S.A. FEELS TUTU’s WRATH

In his usual no-nonsese style, South African retired Archibishop Desmond Tutu has taken on the South African government and the ANC for refusing to grant the Dalai Lama a visa to come to his birthday party, come this Friday.

Not wanting to displease their trading partner, China, the South African government refused to grant the Dala Lama a visa, citing incoherent reasons.

“This government, our government, is worse than the apartheid government, because at least you were expecting it with the apartheid government”, Tutu said.

Tutu accused the government of failing to side with “Tibetans who are being oppressed viciously by the Chinese.”

In recent years China has been flexing its muscles across the continent, through sweet trade deals which obviously come with strings attached. And Africa ought to beware.

Needless to say, we need more fearless men like desmond Tutu to speak truth to power.

  1. This is a really troubling development for the entire continent of Africa.
After our colonial experience, we should never again be held hostage
by forces bent on exploiting our resources.

The treatment of Africans in China is well documented and now they want to
dictate who our guests should be.
South Africa should know better after the world stood by them during the apartheid years. Tibetans deserve the same solidarity.
