Victoire Ingabire, the defiant genocide denier and propagandist has been handed a mere 8 years for espousing the double genocide ideology and trivializing the same.
The court has spoken, and much as this seems to be a slap on the wrist, we must accept and honor the High Court’s decision. Rwanda is a land of laws, not men.
This defiant and vicious woman has caused much pain to millions, and but for the sound and impeccable Rwandan justice system, she should have been locked up for much longer. I would personally throw away the key.
To have gone to the Genocide Memorial in Kigali upon her arrival from Holland and insulted the memories of those interred there is despicable, callous and lacks compassion. But, that is Ingabire.
Justice should not only be done, but seen to be done. It has, and for Ingabire’s salvation and redemption, I hope she uses the next 8 years to reflect and ask her Maker for forgiveness.
