The Rwanda Diaspora in California this weekend launched its AGACIRO FUND in California’s capital City, Sacramento.
The evening event was preeceded by FORA’s (Friends of Rwanda Association) annual fund-raising drive attended by well over 500 people that raised $10,000 for its on-going projects in Rwanda.
Rwanda’s Ambassador to the U.S., H.E. James Kimonyo was the guest speaker, and his speech was met by a rousing ovation. He called the Rwandan Community and friends of Rwanda to rise up to the occassion and lead the U.S. Agaciro Fund drive, and indeed they did: in less than five hours, the Community raised $10,000 and pledged to raise $100,000 by year’s end.
Among the invited guests and contributors to the fund were Dr. Boatamo Mosupyoe and Dr. Ernest Uwazie from California State University, as well as the President of Trans-Atlantic Environmental, Inc., Dr. Kwame Acquaah who has just returned from attending a conference in Rwanda.
AGACIRO fund is catching on like wildfire.
