Despite the UN’s allegations of Rwanda’s involvement in the DRC, unfounded, at best, Germany has decided to reverse its earlier suspension of aid to Rwanda, and will be unfreezing 7 million euros.
No surprise at all. There was never any concrete evidence that instability in the DRC is due to Rwanda’s alleged involvement.
Need a reason? Bad leadership and poor, weak governance in Kinshansa. Let’s call a spade, a spade.
How can Rwanda be blamed for problems in the DRC when we are not the cause? If we are not the cause, we surely cannot be the solution. Can we?
Allegations are constantly being thrown around, with little logic, that Rwanda is involved in the DRC to loot its resources. Really?
How come the Congolese have not taken advantage of their God-given resources, and abandoned the same to Western powers to exploit with cavalier attitude?
An unstable DRC is the Western powers bonanza — a cash cow, if you will. This is how it has been throughout the DRC’s history, and this is the way it is going to remain until there is good governance in the DRC.
However, all said and done, the DRC would be better off being on good terms with Rwanda. Our interests are expressly intertwined with theirs. We will not stand by, arms akimbo, and watch our enemies operate from the DRC to violate our sovereignty. Not again, not soon. Or ever.
